Heart-Shaped Pomegranate Dark Chocolate Scones

Happy Valentine's Day!

Honestly, I often overlook Valentine's Day. It's one of those holidays that isn't very official and you only really celebrate it if you are a kid in pre-k through 4th grade or are in a relationship. I am right smack in the middle and fall into neither of those categories. So I make it a holiday about the people I love. Not romantically. Like friends-and-family. Deep thoughts from Audrey: Valentine's Day is often thought of as romantic-love holiday when it is just a love holiday. And on average people have more non-romantic love than romantic love in their lives so let's make it just a holiday to celebrate love.

And what better way to celebrate those you love than by giving them yummy delicious downright amazing scones? (the perfect gift, as they can be either breakfast, dessert, or snack)?

Dark Chocolate Avocado Brownies with Peanut Butter Greek Yogurt Frosting

Hear me out. Don't close your browser. I promise these are worth your time. I mean I hope you can trust my brownie judgement, I am a brownie connoisseur. Should I remind you of the PB&J Pretzel Swirl Brownies? Or those Mound Bar Brownies I made? And remember how good Peppermint Hot Chocolate Brownies were? And how mouth-watering-ly good those Marzipan Brownies were?

Do you really think I would lead you astray? I am insulted. Unless you're still reading and are ready to believe what I tell you, no matter how strange. In which case, I am flattered.

Oatmeal, Raspberry, and Dark Chocolate Scones

These. Are the best scones ever.

Being both a baker and an anglophile, I've made my fair share of scones over the years, many of them scrumptious by any usual standard. But these, these are the absolute best. And not only are they hands down my favorite scone recipe, they are also one of my favorite recipes...period. Coming from someone who prefers trying new recipes to repeating old ones, that should tell you something.

Brownie Doctor: Marzipan Brownies

WE'VE MOVED! Now redirecting you to our new page.

Do you like marzipan? I take it for granted that everybody loves marzipan because to me it's inconceivable that you wouldn't love marzipan. But apparently marzipan is less of a universal taste than I thought. My own mother is aggressively lukewarm on the stuff. I must have gotten my taste for it through my dad - his 100% German blood makes me well over 50% German myself, and the Germans are nothing if not gaga for marzipan (and beer, and meat, and bread; a balanced diet it is not).

But if you're in touch with your inner German and you do like marzipan, this is definitely the recipe for you. Marzipan is often a subtle presence in desserts, but there is nothing shy about marzipan in these brownies. This is in your face marzipan.
